Pokemon is a beloved franchise that has been around for over two decades and has spawned countless games, TV shows, movies, and more. With the announcement of the new mobile game Pokemon Unite, some players are wondering if it’s worth getting into.
Pokemon Unite is a new game that has just been released. It is an app that allows users to play with their friends and other people around the world.
Who’d have guessed that a classic RPG like Pokemon would ever take on the MOBA genre? Pokemon Unite, which is currently available on the Nintendo Switch, was created by both The Pokemon Company and TiMi Studio Group. On September 22, 2024, the game will be released for both iOS and Android. In addition, Pokemon Unite is available for free on all platforms. However, just because something is free to play doesn’t imply it’s worth your time. As a result, if you’re considering playing the game and want to know whether it’s right for you, read our Pokemon Unite review first.
What is the purpose of Pokemon Unite?
Pokemon Unite is a MOBA game that combines a fan-favorite classic with a MOBA game. It’s a 5v5 fight to determine who has the best team, just like any other MOBA.
Standard, Ranked, and Quick are the three game types available in Pokemon Unite. Remoat Stadium, a 5v5 map, is used for both Standard and Ranked modes. Quick mode, on the other hand, has smaller maps with 3v3 or 4v4 combat settings.
Players have a lengthy rank ladder to climb in Pokemon Unite’s Ranked mode:
- Three courses for beginners
- Four courses is fantastic.
- Expert – five different levels
- Veteran – five different classes
- There are five classifications in Ultra.
- Master – a rating of up to 99999
Gameplay
Pokemon Unite adds a few twists to the MOBA genre’s conventional formula. Let’s begin with the map. In a 5v5 battlefield, MOBAs usually comprise of three lanes and a jungle. Although there are three lanes in Pokemon Unite, the center lane serves as the whole jungle lane.
Notably, jungle laners aren’t the only ones in the game that need exp farming. Due to the removal of team creeps in Pokemon Unite, Pokemon in both the top and bottom lanes must now farm. This is why each lane has its own little rainforest on the side of the road.
But why avoid team creeps in the first place? Instead of destroying buildings, the aim of Pokemon Unite is to score goals. It is necessary to collect points in order to score goals. As a result, the decision was made to distribute neutral creeps around the area for Pokemon to harvest. These neutral creeps are also known as “Wild Pokemon,” and they must be defeated in order for player Pokemon to get points. The points gathered will be used by a player Pokemon to demolish the scoring zone. The location of towers, or scoring zones in this instance, remains the same. There are two designated scoring zones per lane and one on the base.
Keep in mind that in Pokemon Unite, stats aren’t as important. The team with the most points wins the match in this MOBA. In fact, there are times when your team has more scoring zones than the other team yet still loses the game. This is thanks to the legendary bird Pokemon Zapdos’ help. All scored points will be doubled in the last two minutes of the game, and players will have the chance to knock out the thundering bird. When a team successfully KOs Zapdos, they may score goals instantly for the following 30 seconds. When Zapdos’ scoring zone boost is active, it’s almost difficult to stop goals.
If you’re new to Pokemon Unite, the game will reward you for logging in for 14 days. New players will have the chance to earn Pokemon Licenses, Aeos Coins and Tickets, as well as certain player costumes.
To be honest, there are a plethora of other prizes to be obtained in the game. The trainer level prizes come first. Players will get prizes such as Pokemon Licenses, Battle Items, Aeos Coins and Tickets, and Item Enhancers as their trainer level rises.
There are also events and challenges that require participants to complete particular activities in exchange for prizes. Players will get prizes that are very comparable to the trainer level rewards and new player rewards.
Now comes the intriguing issue of how we might put these incentives to good use. Aeos Coins are usually used to unlock new Pokemon Licenses for usage in future bouts. Then there are the Aeos tickets, which may be used to buy various things in the game. Cosmetics, combat goods, boost cards, energy tanks, and item enhancers are among these products.
The item enhancer is the one purchaseable item in the store that many people are interested in. The reason for this is because item enhancers improve the held item of a Pokemon. What exactly is the issue here? Held goods are comparable to the previous League of Legends rune system in that they provide in-game stat bonuses. If you don’t want to spend your hard-earned cash on a game, the only option to get item enhancers is to buy Aeos tickets. Once you’ve used up all of your tickets, you’ll have to keep grinding until you can buy additional item enhancers. Players may now purchase Aeos Gems with real money to buy additional item enhancers if they don’t have the time to go through the grind. This is why many people consider Pokemon Unite to be a pay-to-win game. In low elos, players who are willing to pay may really max out all of their holding goods and take advantage of the stat increase. This isn’t so terrible if these guys still perform poorly in games after receiving stat increases. If you know you’re a superior player, you’ll be able to look beyond this issue with ease. We never had to buy anything to write our Pokemon Unite review, and the game never seemed unfair to free-to-play gamers throughout our time with it.
Graphics
To be honest, the visuals in Pokemon Unite aren’t very impressive. It features the same visual style as the Pokemon games for the Nintendo Switch, but with a lower resolution and fewer HD graphics. The visual quality of Pokemon Unite, on the other hand, has little effect on the overall gameplay, which is OK. The more comical 3D-styled visuals, we believe, are ideal for a MOBA game.
Sound Design and Music
The background music in the game is all excellent. All of the songs give the impression that the user is going to participate in a legitimate Pokemon League. The music are also clearly from a Pokemon game. In this regard, Pokemon enthusiasts have nothing to complain about.
Accessibility
Standard accessibility options are included in Pokemon Unite. Alter the frame rate, change the language, and toggle various screen display options are all available to players. There are other control options that players may experiment with depending on their preferred gaming style. We don’t have much more to say in our Pokemon Unite review, so we’ll just leave it at that.
Is it worth your time to play Pokemon Unite?
For Pokemon fans, Pokemon Unite is a must-have game. Playing a Pokemon game in a MOBA style will be refreshing for everyone. Despite the fact that some argue that the pay-to-win element is unfair to certain players, it’s quite simple to overlook it. After all, it’s a whole new Pokemon experience for both enthusiasts and casual gamers to enjoy. Pokemon Unite might be a fun new game to play with your pals. It may also be a game you present to new players who are seeking for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Plus, nothing beats a stroll down memory lane. Our Pokemon Unite review is now complete.
